CHARLESTON, SC – The Council of Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) endorsed Rep. Mark Sanford for re-election. The group works to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government. Each year, the group tabulates Congressional Ratings by evaluating how each Member of Congress measures up on key tax and spending votes. This year the group scored almost 100 different votes.

“During his tenure in the House, Rep.Sanford has served the citizens of South Carolina with great distinction,” said Chairman Tom Schatz. “On top of his prestigious voting records, he’s worked with his colleagues to restrain the growth of federal spending and to help make government more accountable and transparent to taxpayers.”

“His abiding commitment to fiscal conservatism is one of the many reasons that I urge South Carolinians to vote for Mark Sanford, so that he can continue to hold the line on Washington’s big-spending agenda, and fight to restore accountability and fiscal discipline to the nation’s capital,” concluded Schatz.

“Each year I look forward to the Citizens Against Government Wastebook. It provides some of the most visual examples of waste you’ll find in government.  Calling attention to and introducing legislation that will push back against spending that seems second-nature in Washington has been, and will remain, my focus during my time in Congress,” offered Rep. Sanford.
